Happenings

It's been a busy month!! but things are going well here.

The thrift store reopened on the base where we live now so we took a trip over there and everyone, especially Elizabeth got spoiled!!

She got this neat Weeble-lot Castle... remember the "Weebles wobble but they dont fall down?" She adores this castle and plays with it constantly! (the boys do too... shh dont tell anyone I said that hahah)

We also got her a rocking horse that was there but we're holding that for Christmas. She loves the rocking horse in the nursery at church so I know she will adore this one!

Here is Elizabeth playing with her castle.

I have a neat art curriculum for the boys this year. We study a piece of art and then we use all sorts of mediums to try different types of art through the year. We save art and science experiments for our "Fun Fridays". This week we used water color paint. The boys were supposed to think of a time when they were enjoying themselves and then paint a scene... but not realistic scene. So furniture should be out of place and from all different perspectives. They did a great job!!!!

This was the piece they studied:

This one is Sean's. It is him and Ryan sitting in their bedroom building with Legos. It is hard to see but you can see different parts of their room from different angles. Their bunkbed on the right, the green window at the top, etc. The two boys are in the center. (you might need to click on the picture to see it better LOL)

This one is Ryan's. His scene is of the boys and daddy having a "boys' night". Where they stay up late, lay blankets on the floor int he living room and eat junk. Dennis is the one in the center with the black box in his hand - he is helping build one of their lego contraptions. Ryan is in front with the blue shirt and if you look closely you will see all his toys and stuffed animals around him. Sean is in the back. You can see all the different pieces of furniture around them. Really good job!!!

And finally, last but not least, I snapped these pictures of everyone randomly after dinner the other night. As you can see Elizabeth is still in the middle of her dinner with Mac N Cheese on her face.

She is saying "CHEESE!" in this picture!

Ryan starting to get some teeth in.

Would someone please tell these boys to stop growing up so fast?!?!?!

School progress

We started school on Monday, as promised, and so far so good! As a matter of fact, very good!! Ryan gave me some resistance at first but he soon came out of it once we got the day rolling.

I'm so impressed with how much we are getting done in the amount of time that we are this year. Last year, on a good day, we would only get Bible, English, Math, handwriting and spelling done before lunch. Then after lunch would have to be either science or history and then they would need to read. On a good day we would be done around 2 for the day. And I wouldn't be able to do History and Science but once or twice a week.

This year, we get absolutely everything done - including History and Science every day - by 1230. I save the read-a-loud (me reading aloud a book to them) for the evening, after dinner. The boys (and me too) are thrilled about this. haha! Sean actually said today, as he was writing one of his spelling words "bored" today, "I'm actually not really bored doing this, " then he caught himself and said, "...but that doesnt mean I'm having fun!" With a big grin on his face. I laughed and said, "yes you are! You're having fun, admit it!" :)
