Summer, almost over?!

Wow! Where did the summer go?! It has been a very busy, yet very good summer for us! Last time I posted, our school year was coming to an end, now our school year is getting ready to begin again. In between this time, we have visited with old friends; my sister has moved close(er); and we have had one activity after another.

Best news first, both of our boys made a decision to get baptized! We are so proud of them!!

On July 4th, we enjoyed time spent with my sister and her husband. We had a BBQ and enjoyed some impromtu fireworks. Surprisingly, our neighbors put on a pretty good show, too. :)

At the end of July, we were very busy with Missions Conference and Vacation Bible School at church. It was a great time of Christian fellowship, and making new friends.

In August, we took a trip down to Virginia to visit with my sister and her husband. There was an agricultural fair with rides and plenty of animals to see and pet!

A busy summer, now is starting to come to a close. We hope to begin school this week is Mom can get the lead out and stop stalling. HAHA!

Vacation Bible School

We are having a very busy summer!!
This week was Vacation Bible School at our church. The theme is "transformed"... as in

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
Romans 12:2

 We had a great time!!

This was Elizabeth's first real year for VBS. She couldnt wait to get to church each night!!

Here she is helping to hold up part of a Bible verse that the kids were all learning.

Dennis helped lead game time. This was a fun game that they had to eat a donut on a string - no hands!!

After games, song-time, and snacks came the offering. There was a little girls vs boys contest and the losing team's  representative got a pie in the face! Unfortunately, after a 2 year in a row winning streak, the girls lost to the boys.

I have to brag on myself a little bit. I had my very first baking success! LOL!! I'm a TERRIBLE baker but decided to put all those days watching "cupcake wars" on TV to the test and bring in some mini cupcakes. They were all gone in the first night, so I suppose they turned out pretty good! *giggle*

A Year in Review

I made a video today of pictures that we had taken through the year.
I set it to music to make sure you have your headphones or speakers ready. :)

So much happens, yet a year goes way too fast!

Enjoy the video! :)

Vacation Bible School 2010

Yeaha! We had a great Vacation Bible School this year. The theme was 'Round'em Up for Jesus' and we were all cowboys and cowgirls.

I wasnt very faithful with the camera this year so I didnt get pictures of all the events but I did get some. Most importantly game time- everyone loves game time!

Craft time in the morning! We made things like personally colored post cards, decorated cacti, and made door hangers

Then we all filed into the auditorium and the "Trail Boss" passed out stickers and laid down the law for the day

After some stories and crafts then it was game time!!!

We had relay races where you have to quickly dress up in boots and hats and race

Picking up treasure (pennies)
this side was for the big kids...

... and this side for the littles so they didnt get trampled

Good ol'fashion ring toss...

Relay race of carrying a feed bag...

and probably one of the favorite games: catch the cowboy!!

After they finished their races (or got tagged out) they had to sit down and be quiet.
First team seated and quiet won!

At the end of those fun 3 days the "Sheriff" handed out certificates for attendance.
Everyday the children received stickers in their little note book for attendance, good behavior, bringing their Bibles, etc. At the end of the three days they counted up their stickers and got to choose prizes from the table. The more stickers you had, the better prize you got to choose. The children were sooo looking forward to that moment. HAHA!

We had a great time, as usual, and look forward to next year's outer space theme!!!
