What should have been a quick doctor's appointment, maybe take some blood or at the very least come back another day for another appointment turned into a crazy day! At least Sean got to finally see a doctor for this strange nausea/vomiting thing though.
This morning he had his doctor's appointment on base with the military clinic. When I described Sean's symptoms (throwing up in the morning, no other "sickness" symptoms, etc) the doc was truely baffled. He said the first thing that comes to mind, since Sean mentions "yucky tasting burps", esp the morning after a spaghetti meal, is acid reflux. He prescribed some Zantac (antacid stuff) for him but also put in a referral for him to see a specialist in town. So I head over to Tricare, they handle all the stuff to get our doc in town since they can speak the language, and she comes out and says you need to go over to the hospital right now. They want to see him right now in case it's something serious. I'm totally not prepared for this! I dont even have his booster seat in the car (the school is literally next door to the clinic, so I just walked him over). Thankfully Dennis was on that same base today and his car had the boosters in it. So I drove over to where his car was parked (with Sean just buckled in) and grabbed the booster and away to the hospital we go.
The parking at this hospital is HORRID and the spaces... well let's just say they're not made for American sized cars LOL. We finally get into the children's hospital (kinderklink) and see the doctor there. He decides that he doesnt want Sean to take the Zantac and he wants him to wait so he can run tests on him. One of the tests being an MRI *gasp*. I have 2 appointments set up to bring him in next week (Mar 6 and 9th) and they're going to do tolerance tests on his tummy - he's going to drink some strange drink - different one each day - and then they will do their tests. The MRI hasnt been set up yet. I'm definitely going to need Dennis's help with that one. Sean will have to be sedated for it and he will have to stay overnight. The doctor said that he wants to do an MRI because sometimes vomiting in the morning is a lone symptom you might see if someone has a brain tumor............ a WHAT?!!? He says that it's unlikely but still, we should check to be sure. SIGH! If it's not one that's got me worrying, it's the another...
By the time we were all done there, it was after 1pm and poor Sean was starving for lunch so I took him over to the PX and got him some Pizza Hut. Now he's back home playing his Lego StarWars video game. haha! What a day!!!

I swear my friends kid had the same symptoms (cept she wouldp puke in the night, just once) and it was acid reflux. Try not to worry!!
wasn't the name thing a hoot!!
You must be sick with worry Amy. It's good that you are getting tests to find out what's going on for sure instead of just trying medicines. I'll be sending prayers that all is fine & that your appt's go smoothly. I imagine the language barrier makes things even more difficult.
((hugs)),

Amy, I haven't read your blog in a while and am just reading that Sean is having some problems. I pray it is nothing serious and can be remedied very easily.
I'm right there with you on the SIDS thing. My parents lost a son to it before I was born and has worried Nana(and had US worrying) til all her future children were a year old. She has had me, 13 grands, 13 greatgrands and 2 great greatgrands and it's the same worry everytime. Just do all you know to do to lessen the chances and pray that God does the rest. I'm sure she'll be fine. If it's any consolation, most SIDS babies are little boys.
